Sean earned his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry, emphasizing Biochemistry, from Loyola University Chicago in 2000. He received his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from University Illinois Chicago in 2008, with a certificate in Intellectual Property Law emphasizing Patent Law. He also attained a Masters of Law (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property and Technology Law from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law in 2012.

Sean is licensed to practice state law in Illinois, and federal law throughout the United States. He is admitted to practice before the Northern District of Illinois, and is a licensed Patent Attorney (#66,760) with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Sean and his wife have been married for ten years and live in the suburbs of Chicago. They have three  girls and his time is often spent coaching their soccer teams and helping with homework. He is also an avid home brewer and enjoys playing fetch with their dog, Guinness.
