Practice Areas

Intellectual Property

“Intellectual Property” is an umbrella term for patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Intellectual Property rights are given to persons for the creations of their minds to earn recognition and financial benefit. As a licensed Patent Attorney, I have extensive experience securing patent and trademark registrations with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Copyright registrations can be complex, and must be sought from the U.S. Copyright Office. Trade Secrets are based on state confidentiality laws, and must be adequately guarded or they will lose all value.

Business Transactions

Sean helps entrepreneurs start a business, such as a limited liability company (LLC) or corporation (C-Corp or S-Corp), draft the operating agreements, and represent them in a wide range of transactional matters, such as customer contracts, drafting website terms and conditions, licensing matters, and worker contracts.

Regulatory Review

Regulatory agencies, such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC), require foods, drugs, cosmetics, dietary supplements, and medical devices to comply with advertising laws and regulations. Sean conducts advertising, claim substantiation, and labeling reviews to advise clients on compliance with federal and state laws.

Wills & Trusts

Estate planning is difficult due to the complexity of the documents required. Trusts help minimize estate taxes and can be drafted to avoid probate courts. Trusts also set up a blueprint for how to deal with medical incapacity in the unlikely event it happens. A will outlines the transfer of property upon death, and nominates a guardian for children. There is never a better time to start planning for the future than right now.

Whether you run a consulting service, hair salon, recording studio, or an eCommerce website, all businesses need to take legal matters seriously to minimize their liability and risk.

“Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.”
